FNQ – Cairns, Cooktown, Lizard Island:September – December
Anglers travel from all over the world to fish the pristine waters of the Great Barrier Reef. The elusive “grander” Black Marlin (being in excess of 1000 pounds) inhabit these waters from September through to early December.
To maximise your fishing opportunities on the northern section of the Great Barrier Reef, we recommend live on board charters, which enable you to fish right up until dark, to stay with the bite and increase your chance to catch a giant Black Marlin.
On the reef, there are many other pelagic species to be caught such as Spanish mackerel, sailfish, mahi mahi, wahoo, dogtooth tuna, yellowfin tuna and you can also enjoy some of the best popper fishing for Giant Trevally in the country.
The reef really does have it all — book your trip now to experience all that the reef has to offer!
